About Us

Our home is located in Central Minnesota, on 63 lovely wooded acres full of hiking trails and a beautiful creek. The dogs enjoy hiking in the woods with us while chasing butterflies. We are a small hobby preservation breeder, which means we only have a few well-planned litters each year.
By day, Andy is the Senior Regional Manager-Northwest for FedEx Freight Direct. He has an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State, and an M.B.A. from U.N.D. Sarah, when not playing with the dogs, teaches at a small Catholic university. In addition to Spanish courses, she enjoys teaching Linguistics courses.
Sarah is the family dog handler while Andy is the dog spoiler and official ringside cheerleader.
We started our small family-run kennel in 2015 when Lincoln joined our household. Sarah always wanted a sheltie and Andy always wanted an English Setter, so we compromised and got both. :)
Our dogs are spoiled members of the family who run our home.
Sarah does not recall a time in her life when she has been without a dog (or two).
We are blessed by having amazing mentors. They have taught us the importance of pedigree in determining where you want to go with your breeding program, always with the goal of improving the breed standards and making health and temperament a priority. We have spent hours and hours analyzing different pedigrees as well as those of our dogs. We spend extensive financial resources on health testing; we want to breed dogs that have fabulous form AND function, and are better than what we have (and they are pretty great!).
Our Kennel name? North Roe. We decided to name our kennel North Roe because it is an absolutely beautiful area of the Shetland Islands, and we strive for inner and outer beauty in our dogs.
Welcome to our site, and welcome to North Roe.
